A momentous day today on many fronts. Arlington Rotary "drove" us over the top at $75,230.00 to unlock the second very generous challenge grant of $25,000! I'm certain that DG Elect Ramesh Ferris' presentation on PolioPlus Night at the District 5050 Conference was the catalyst for the achievement. Thanks Ramesh, donating Rotary Clubs, Rotarians and "future" Rotarians for your efforts on behalf of the 2025 Miss Vicky Challenge for PolioPlus.

Oh! My goodness! First $25k challenge met and only $6k short of the second! WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT GOOD NEWS? District 5050 Conference was a rousing success and audience awed, inspired and humbled on PolioPlus Night with Ramesh Ferris' amazing story of success.

Wonderful news! Wild Polio Virus cases are holding stable in Afghanistan and Pakistan at 7, year to date AND, the Miss Vicky Challenge has just passed the half way mark! Secret is, there are several "checks in the mail" that will post in the near future and bring us very close to our goal. Thanks to all who have contributed to Rotary's Signature Project, PolioPlus.

On March 23, 2025, the PolioPlus Luncheon at the Red Rose Restaurant successfully raised funds for polio eradication. The event featured insightful talks from Doctor Anwar Sisters - Dr. Bushra Anwar and Dr. Khushbakht Anwar, who discussed the challenges of vaccine campaigns in Pakistan, along with Dr. R. Lee Harman and Rtn. Winston Conyers. A key highlight was the 'Miss Vicky $25,000 Challenge Donation,' supporting the ongoing efforts of these dedicated individuals to eradicate polio.

Miss Vicky Rides Again! Locked inside this 1931 Model A Ford is a pledge to contribute $25,000.00 to PolioPlus WHEN ROTARIANS RAISE A MATCHING $25,000. Simple as that. February 23rd, 1954. 71 years ago today, Dr. Jonas Salk hosted the first polio vaccination clinic in Pittsburgh, PA. The effort ultimately became Rotary’s 40 year trek to eradicate polio worldwide. Imagine: ten billion vaccinations to three billion children in just the last ten years. Just three cases of Wild Polio Virus year-to-date in 2025. But when the Taliban stopped its Afghanistan 2024 vaccination program, wild polio virus jumped to 95 cases. Clearly, without vaccination programs, the virus can and will return with a vengeance. Help raise the $25,000.00 match to "unlock" the MV safe where a challenge $25,000.00 resides!

To all District 5050 Rotarians and leaders: a new PolioPlus Challenge has been started! Help “unlock” Miss Vicky’s onboard safe where a PolioPlus check for $25,000.00 is stored. The key to opening the safe is to raise a matching $25,000.00 by the time of our District Conference, May 1st, Contributions can be made here at the Miss Vicky Challenge website or by clicking the QR code. Using the site, your funds go straight to PolioPlus, generate Rotary Recognition Points and count towards major donor status. A tax receipt will also be generated and if your donation is at least $100.00, you’ll be invited to join the PolioPlus Society, pledging at least $100.00 per year until polio is eradicated worldwide.
